The School of International Relations visited Brussels for three days as part of the National Training Week to get a first-hand look at the institutions and workings of the European Union.
During their stay, they visited the European Parliament, they met Christine Hoehn, Chief Adviser to the EU Counter-Terrorism Coordinator. A presentation was also given by Rodrigo Ballester, Head of the Center for European Studies, who has almost two decades of experience in the EU, further deepening the students' experience. The presentation by Luca Perego (DG Education, Youth, Sport and Culture, European Commission) gave students an insight into the EU's activities in the field of education and a better understanding of the Erasmus programme. The final part of the professional programme was a presentation by Marco Valletta on food safety and what we need to look out for when buying food. Finally, there was a chance to explore the city, the Grande Place and the old town, and even a tour of the Molenbeek district.
