On June 11, 2025, the Antall József Building of the European Parliament in Brussels hosted a special event organized by Patriots of Europe - in collaboration with Mathias Corvinus Collegium (MCC) and Ordo Iuris - centered on the future of the European Union and the essential role of national sovereignty in upcoming institutional reforms.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of “The Great Reset” report, co-authored by the MCC and Ordo Iuris. The report outlines two contrasting scenarios for the EU’s institutional future, emphasizing that the protection of constitutional order and national sovereignty cannot be compromised in favor of further centralization in Brussels. The report’s key message is clear: robust national representation, freedom of expression, and stronger safeguards for national interests must be prioritized.
? Rodrigo Ballester, Head of the Center for European Studies at MCC and former EU official, took a prominent role in the discussion, offering expert insight into the legal and political implications of the proposed reform paths.
Other notable speakers included:
? Jerzy Kwaśniewski, President of Ordo Iuris
? András László, Member of the European Parliament
? António Tânger Corrêa, Vice President of Chega
? The panelists emphasized that the EU’s legitimacy must be grounded in the democratic will of its citizens and the self-determination of its Member States.
The Brussels event is part of a broader European and transatlantic dialogue. Prior to this, the report was presented at:
? the Heritage Foundation in Washington, D.C.
? MCC in Budapest
? the Ordo Iuris Institute in Warsaw
? the Center for Fundamental Rights in Madrid
This series of presentations aims to foster a serious conversation about the EU’s future direction—not towards more centralization, but towards a renewed respect for the sovereignty of its nations.
